Lorena Dawne Soff was born on April 23, 1966 in Edmonton, Alberta Canada to David Melnyk and Anita (Brown) Melnyk. "Lori" as all of her friends knew her, loved her mom and dad all the days of her life. She also had 2 wonderful sisters and 2 great brothers whom she loved just as much. Their names are Lisa, Angela, Brent, and Darren. After the divorce of her parents, Lori was blessed with 2 step parents that she loved and respected in Don Nason and Judy Melnyk.
Lori gave birth to a gorgeous little girl named Danielle in March of 1986. Very sadly though Danielle passed away after only 54 short days. Lori missed her daughter every day of the rest of her life.
Lori moved to Michigan with me, her soon to be husband in September of 1992 (her and I had fallen in love). We had met one night after a baseball game and for 3 months Lori excitedly showed me all the wonders that Edmonton had to offer. After leaving all of her family and the only life she'd ever known to be with me, we then married on April 23, 1993 (yes it was her 27th birthday) and Lori became a very loving and caring step mother to Joshua and Jenniffer, my 2 children.
After a very long and difficult battle with Lupus, late in the evening of December 4, 2001, Lori was taken into heaven by her guardian angel at God's merciful and loving command. Because of His awesome and unconditional love for her, He has now protected her for all eternity from ever feeling any pain or anguish again. What more could I ever want for her to have.
I cannot tell you how much I miss this wonderful lady, and the hollowness that is now within my heart. She has my heart for all of eternity!
